A good IELTS score can literally change your life.
The good news? 30 days is enough to significantly improve your IELTS band score if you follow the right plan, stay consistent, and practise smartly. Thousands of students at Globetrix IELTS Coaching in Ahmedabad have achieved Band 7+ with exactly this approach.
Let's get started.
First - Understand the IELTS Exam Format
Before you start preparing, you must understand exactly what the IELTS exam looks like. Many students waste weeks preparing the wrong way because they do not understand the format clearly.
Section | Duration | Questions | Band Range | Difficulty |
Listening | 30 min + 10 min transfer | 40 questions | 0 – 9 | Medium |
Reading | 60 minutes | 40 questions | 0 – 9 | Hard |
Writing | 60 minutes | 2 tasks | 0 – 9 | Hard |
Speaking | 11–14 minutes | 3 parts | 0 – 9 | Medium |
What Band Score Do You Need?
- Canada Student Visa - IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5)
- UK Student Visa - IELTS 6.0 to 6.5
- Australia Student Visa - IELTS 6.0 to 6.5
Check your specific requirement before starting.
How Difficult is Each Section? Know Your Starting Point
Before Day 1 of your 30-day plan, take a free IELTS diagnostic test to understand your current level in each section. This tells you exactly where to focus most of your energy.
Listening - Band 7–8
Most students score well here with practice. Focus on accent and speed.
Reading - Band 6–7
Needs speed and skimming skills. Time management is critical here.
Writing - Band 6–7
Hardest to improve quickly. Start practising Task 1 and Task 2 from Day 1.
Speaking - Band 6.5–7.5
Confidence and fluency matter most. Daily speaking practice is the key.
Daily Study Schedule — How to Manage Your 30 Days
The biggest mistake IELTS students make is studying randomly. Here is a proven daily schedule that covers all 4 sections systematically without overwhelming you.

Section-Wise IELTS Tips - Expert Advice for Band 7+
IELTS Listening - Tips to Score Band 8
- Read questions before the audio starts. You get 30 seconds, use it fully to predict answers
- Focus on keywords in questions the answer will be near those keywords in the audio
- Watch spelling carefully even correct answers lose marks with spelling mistakes
- Do not panic if you miss one answer. Move ahead, do not lose the next one, too
- Practice with British, Australian and American accents. IELTS uses all three
- Use the 10-minute transfer time wisely, review and correct your answers
IELTS Reading - Tips to Score Band 7+
- Skim the passage first in 2 minutes, and understand the main idea before reading the questions
- Do NOT read word by word, scan for keywords related to each question
- True/False/Not Given is the trickiest "Not Given" means the passage simply does not mention it
- Matching Headings read the first and last sentence of each paragraph that is where the main idea is
- Spend max 20 minutes per passage strict time management is everything in Reading
- Answers are always in order in the passage, which saves you a lot of time
IELTS Writing - Tips for Band 7 in Task 1 & Task 2
- Task 2 is worth double marks if short on time. Always finish Task 2 first
- Write at least 250 words for Task 2 and 150 for Task 1 under word count = automatic score drop
- Always write an overview in Task 1, as it is the most important paragraph for the band score
- Use a clear 4-paragraph structure for Task 2 Introduction, Body 1, Body 2, Conclusion
- Avoid repeating the same words use synonyms to show a vocabulary range
- Proofread for 3 minutes and then fix grammar and spelling errors
IELTS Speaking - Tips to Score Band 7.5
- Speak naturally, do not memorise answers, examiners are trained to detect memorised responses
- Give extended answers in Part 1 never answer with just "yes" or "no"
- In Part 2, speak for the full 2 minutes, use all the cue card prompts and add personal examples
- In Part 3, give opinions with reasons and examples "I think... because... For example..."
- Fluency matters more than accuracy. Keep talking, even if you make small grammar mistakes
- Use a variety of tenses and sentence structures. This directly improves your grammatical range score

Why Self-Study Alone is Not Enough - Why Expert Coaching Matters
Thousands of students try to prepare for IELTS on their own. Some succeed but most achieve a band lower than their potential. Here is why joining an IELTS Coaching in Ahmedabad makes a real difference:
Writing Feedback
You cannot evaluate your own writing accurately. An expert identifies exactly why your Task 2 essay scores Band 6 instead of Band 7 and how to fix it.
Speaking Evaluation
Recording yourself helps, but expert feedback is irreplaceable. A trainer identifies pronunciation, fluency and vocabulary gaps that you cannot hear yourself.
Structured Mock Tests
Regularly timed mock tests with scoring give you real exam experience and show your improvement week by week with data.
Personalised Study Plan
Every student has different weak areas. Expert trainers create a personalised plan targeting your specific gaps saving you weeks of wasted effort.
Doubt Clearing
Immediate answers to your questions about grammar, reading strategies, or exam tactics prevent you from practising the wrong way for days.
Motivation & Accountability
Studying alone is hard to sustain for 30 days. A classroom environment, batchmates and expert trainers keep you motivated and on track.
